The Cricket and the Ladybug - Chapter Seven
Jiminy popped his head above the water and spit out some water like a fountain statue. He whipped his head around trying to look for Tallulah, who was floating lifeless in the water. With a loud gasp, he dived under the water and up beside her, putting her arm over his shoulder and swimming to the shore. He carefully dropped her body onto the grass. He gently shook her, “Oh please wake up, Miss Tallulah!” He put his ear against her chest and was relieved to hear a heartbeat. He gave her a few pumps on the chest, hoping it would push any water out from her lungs. He waited another moment, feeling very defeated. Talulah’s body laid before him. She was alive, but she seemed to be barely hanging on. Jiminy removed his hat in respect before shedding a tear. He thought for a moment, and wondered… Maybe the answer was a simple fairytale trope. True love’s kiss! He decided to give it a go. At this point he had nothing to lose. He leaned forward, gave a sigh, and

Although the rain had stopped, the forest was still dewey as ever. The mud began to stiffen back into dirt, but puddles still lingered. Hopes began to rise as they could finally see city lights in the distance. Tallulah beamed, “We’re almost there!” She began to walk faster, until she began running. Jiminy chased after her, “Wait for me, Miss Tallulah!” She raced towards the city, a twinkle in her eye. She didn’t even stop to see a river flowing right in front of her. She tripped over the edge and yelped as she began to tumble forward Before she could come into contact with the water, Jiminy grabbed her by the ankle. “Jiminy!” “Hold on, Tallulah! I’ve gotcha!” He pulled her back onto the land, but they both fumbled on their way back. He summersaulted backwards, landing on his behind. Tallulah came down into his lap, saddled between his legs, leaning back onto him. “OOF!” They exclaimed in unison as they fell into each other. They both breathed a sigh of

Jimmy and Tallulah made their way through the rainy forest. Every step of the way was misery for Tallulah. She struggled to jump over puddles and avoid the muddy road. Jiminy did his best to help her along the way, but certain points on the journey required her to figure things out for herself. Tallulah wondered aloud, “Aren’t gentlemen supposed to lay down their coats to help ladies across puddles?” Her voice had a tinge of flirtatious intentions, although she didn’t mean to. Jiminy couldn’t help but laugh, “I couldn’t do that for every puddle in the forest. It wouldn’t be much help anyway. My coats already wet enough.” He hopped over some mud and grabbed a leaf to lay cross the path. “This is the probably the best alternative.” He extended his hand out to her as she stepped over. Tallulah took his hand as she gracefully stepped down. They continued along, Jiminy hummed a tune, chipper as ever. Tallulah was astounded by his happy-go-lucky attitude. “How do you do

Tallulah wandered the forest all on her own. She wasn’t used to this environment. The rough and rugged terrain was no place for a lady after all. And her high heeled shoes certainly weren’t doing her any favors. “I can’t believe that spider. And that little… Whatever he was! Men only want one thing. Time and time again I find myself here. I don’t know why I bother anymore.” She gave a sigh and hugged herself as a breeze passed through. The wind began to pick up. It gave her a push and picked her up by her good wing. It gave her a spin, causing her to fall down on her behind. She tightened her hands to a fist and was just about ready to burst. She took a deep breath and did her best to calm down, “Well, look at the bright side. It can’t get any worse than this, right?” Suddenly a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky and a boom of thunder followed behind. A trickle of rain drops began to pour from the sky and dowse Tallulah. She screamed in frustration and as she

Harry Spider carried Tallulah over his shoulder, like a sack of potatoes, all the way out of town and into the nearby forest. Tallulah did her best to shimmy and break free from her silk cocoon, but it was no use. Tallulah finally managed to get the wrappings down to her neck and shouted, “HELP! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!” Harry laughed, “HA! Cry all ya want, babes! We’re too deep into the forest for anyone to hear ya.” Tallulah continued to shout anyway, hoping she would catch someone, anyone’s attention. Luckily Jiminy was still following right behind her. He did his best to follow close behind them, but his hops couldn’t keep up with the spider’s big steps. “Whoo,” Jiminy stopped to catch his breath, “Must be one of those daddy long legs.” The spider finally reached his destination, a large, dewey web nestled above a rock in between some berry bush branches. He climbed up the rock with six of his eight legs and slapped her up against the web. She stuck to the dew as it

As soon as the show was over Jiminy Cricket made his way backstage to meet the one and only Tallulah. But he wasn't the only fan eager to see her. Tallulah was in her dressing room changing into her casual everyday dress. She was about ready to go home for the evening when she heard a knock at the door. "Just a minute!" she called out. Tallulah approached the door and opened it a tad to see through. She always had fans coming back to say hello, so she had to be a bit careful. In front of her was a tall, burly spider. He was dressed in a blue vest and a green bowler hat. The man raised his top hat, "Hello, Miss! I'm a producer from Hollywood Pictures, Harry Spider." He pulled out a card and handed it to her. The card simply stated, "Harry Spider - Hollywood Producer." Tallulah was suspicious, but decided to hear him out. "Alright... How can I help you then, Mr. Spider?" The man burst through the door and into her dressing room as he gave an elaborate speech, "I've
